Any advice on the best way to organize your songs in ableton for djing??

Post by zahnerj on Mon Jan 17, 2011 11:26 pm

I have an apc40 and am wondering is there a better way to organize the songs, like split them up into different sections?

Lots of different videos under the video section to look at, but check out Tom Cosm http://www.cosm.co.nz/ for inspiration.

I am hoping to post a video at the weekend as well, so keep looking.

Good luck and enjoy!

I use channel 1 & 2 & 3 like DECK 1, 2 & 3. I have a dummy channel, an acapella channel and the rest are like my record box divided by genres and BPMs. since I tend to play multiple gernes in a set, I may have up to 6 channels with ready to go warped tracks with different genres lined up via slowest to highest BPM for easy reference.

I know this isn't the most complex way to do things, but I try to keep it simple when playing live.

Simple is the way forwards.... I have 4 tracks set up with full tracks, i'll split each clip into 4 sections and then i'll have another two tracks that include oneshots and small bits of acapellas...

I'm currently working on a drumrack channel so that i can fill it with samples and use it on the fly without having to set up quantization and stuff so play a bit more fluidly.... I'll play the drumrack off the right half of my APC40 with the first four tracks still having the standard control....

Cheers
