noob question no.12044204902394042

Post by supersox on Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:30 am

ok so not strictly an apc 40 question.

im using ableton live and im messing around with some midi signal on the ambient cosmos soundscape effect that comes with live 8.
basically i am changing the filter freq and envelope with my mouse using the graph thing so that the sound changes in pitch in a sweeping sort of fashion.

i am wanting to record this change in sound (the sweep) and then save it as a midi clip, so that when i launch the midi clip on my apc 40 it will automatically add the sweep effect in, without me having to use the mouse to alter the filter freq and envelope.

does anyone know how to record these filter changes so that they can automatically play once launched.

you can do it one of two ways. You can press record, and then perform the filter sweep yourself with the knob, or you can draw in the filter sweep with your mouse in the envelopes.

To do the first one, just press record, fire your clip, do your sweep, and then press stop. Press tab to go to arrangement view and you'll see your clip there. Edit it down to the size you want. You can then copy it and press tab to switch back to session view and paste it into your midi track and voila. It should save all of the automation.

check the parameter within the envelopes. It sounds like it didn't record it. Did you press record? You can always draw in the automation with the mouse.
